Carbon, Climate, Community and Biodiversity Solutions

Carbon farming is not our only focus in what we do as we firmly believe that we have equal and complementary obligations to our stakeholders and society more broadly.

These obligations are manifest in our following guiding principles:

COMMUNITY

TerraWise is committed to creating work opportunities for First Nations people AND people living in regional Australia.

This will be achieved by creating employment and training opportunities to First Nations people by targeting that 50 percent of the labour and skilled content of work done on country is undertaken by First Nations people and that 50 percent of labour and skilled content is sourced regionally.

BIODIVERSITY

TerraWise is committed to the restoration of (non-arable) land using native vegetation to a standard that will:

  • increase the conservation and bio-diversity value of the land;
  • provide habitat to native fauna;
  • reintroduce pollinators;
  • reduce weeds and pests.

IMPROVED FARMING PRACTICES

TerraWise is committed to the development of and use of best practice farming practices that may also result in improved soil carbon in land and the abatement of Green House Gas emissions.

This will be achieved by working with closely with growers/landowners and the implementation of an approved Land Management Strategy which is a requirement of project registration under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative—Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models) Methodology Determination 2021.

These best practices are anticipated to result in the following:

  • increase the conservation and bio-diversity value of the land;
  • provide habitat to native fauna;
  • reintroduce pollinators;
  • reduce weeds and pests
